MEET THE PROFESSOR
a unique celebration..."
Over twenty years ago my friend Brian had a dream in which there was a character named Yarn Head. When he told me about his dream I told him that years from now, when I was around 50 I’d have a band and I’d call myself Professor Yarnhead.
I guess that time has come!
Off and on for over thirty years I’ve played in bands and worked on various music projects, from Train of Thought, Zombie Birdhouse and Eccentric Activities in the 1980’s to UFOverdriver for the last six years.
Now I’m living and recording in the hi-desert in Southern California, near Joshua Tree in Pioneertown.
I record while staring out at giant granite boulders and Joshua Trees, in a jackrabbit homestead cabin on 10 acres of quietness.
My influences include Leonard Cohen, Robbie Robertson, Brian Eno, Massive Attack, Tricky, Leslie Winer, Tom Waits and Laurie Anderson.
"It’s a cinematic album, an album of songs that build like a sonic flood. I think it could work well as a soundtrack for a film..."
Released June 2, 2016
Written and Produced by Professor Yarnhead.
You can find this album and all the other Professor Yarnhead's singles and albums on Bandcamp.

29 1/2 years of love today – that’s 10,775 days!!! Now you can hear how we met in a short love story from Professor Yarnhead called “I Believe In Love.”
Dream worlds, a love story, late night desert paranoia, a cover of one of my favorite artist’s – Leonard Cohen, and several more pieces featuring the voice and original music of Professor Yarnhead.
This single includes a pair of spoken word pieces… on the a-side is “One Dollar Hits”, based on a word-collage I created years ago. On the b-side is “There’s A Place…” about the world I find myself in often during dream time.
People ask me all the time if I’m a musician and I always answer, “No.” Because I’m not. I’m an artist who works with music and sound sometimes. For the last six years I’ve created dozens of sound collages under the name UFOverdriver. I’d mix pieces of sound together to create new listening experiences. But I’ve never had the desire to write or play songs. Until recently…
In my little studio recording an original Professor Yarnhead tune called “So Blue.”
